AWARDS RULES.

Welcome to the British Wedding Film Awards – we’re here to celebrate outstanding wedding filmmakers across 20 categories. The rules are simple and designed to keep things fair and inspiring. By entering, you agree to follow these guidelines, which help us celebrate excellence together.

Submission
Guidelines.

  • Submissions open 1st May 2025 and close 1st December 2025.

  • Submit films digitally via a link (e.g., Vimeo, VidFlow, YouTube).

  • An entry fee of £30 per entry per film is required. Please ensure payment is completed alongside your submission form.

  • You can submit the same film across different categories or different films within the same category. Each entry requires a separate submission and fee.

  • The film must be available to view at the time of submission. Password-protected links will not be accepted and no refund will be issued.

  • Private links are allowed, provided they do not require a password to access (e.g., unlisted on YouTube). It is the filmmakers responsibility to ensure the link can be accessed by the judges, with no password restrictions.

  • Read more about submission guidelines on the How to Enter page.

entry
requirements.

  • There are no restrictions on when the film was produced, filmed, or edited. Entries can include any film, regardless of its production date, as long as it represents the filmmaker’s best work.

  • Entries are open to all videographers and content creators, UK and International.

  • Only the filmmaker owning the footage can submit; editors cannot submit a film.

  • Judges reserve the right to reallocate a wedding film entry to a different category if they feel it is better suited, ensuring each film is judged in the most appropriate context.

  • We recommend films should not exceed 7 minutes, unless specified in the category.

  • Films shot in the couple's' native language are eligible. However, filmmakers must ensure that films with non-English dialogue include subtitles or translations.

  • Only original work created by you or your team is allowed.

CONTENT
RESTRICTIONS.

  • You must have rights to all footage, and content used.

  • For all categories except ‘Best Social Edit’, no copyrighted music may be used unless properly licensed or obtained with explicit permission for use in the film.

ELIGIBILITY
CRITERIA.

  • Each award category has its own set of specific criteria to ensure a fair and focussed evaluation based on the unique nature of the category. These criteria help judges assess films based on the relevant strengths and qualities that matter most for each category.

  • You can find the detailed category-specific criteria on the Eligibility & Guidelines page of the website. Please review them carefully before submitting your film.
